What it does
The Copilot dashboard in Viva Insights gives the deeper adoption view — readiness, adoption, impact and sentiment across the organisation — well beyond the admin center's raw activity counts. It adds behavioural context: which cohorts adopt, what they do with Copilot, and early signals of business impact.
Key facts
- Available through Viva Insights; a baseline Copilot dashboard is included with a Copilot licence, with richer analytics under premium Viva Insights.
- Frames adoption around readiness, adoption, impact and sentiment.
- Reports on group aggregates with minimum-group-size thresholds to protect individual privacy — small teams won't render.
- Data pulls from Microsoft 365 signals, so it inherits the same lag and de-identification considerations.
- Surveys feed the sentiment view; without responses that pane stays thin.
When to use / skip
Use it to steer a rollout — spot which departments lag, target enablement, and evidence value to leadership. Skip it for simple licence checks; the admin center is quicker for that.
Configuration decisions
- Whether premium Viva Insights is in scope for the deeper cuts.
- How groups/attributes are defined (via Entra or uploaded org data) so the cohorts are meaningful.
Gotchas
- Minimum group size hides data for small teams — leaders of a five-person unit see nothing and assume it's broken.
- "Impact" metrics are directional, not audited ROI. Present them as signals, not proof.
Consultant notes
- This is your change-management cockpit — build the adoption plan around its four lenses.
- Get clean org attributes in early; weak groupings make every chart useless.
- Run the sentiment surveys — hard numbers plus how people feel is what convinces sponsors.
- Frame impact figures honestly to leadership; over-claiming ROI early erodes trust when scrutiny arrives.
