App-only tokens for multitenant apps without a service principal

Support ended 1 Oct 2024 · 24 months ago

Dataverse stopped accepting app-only tokens from multitenant Entra ID apps that have no service principal in the target tenant. Any S2S integration registered in one tenant and pointed at another needs the app provisioned in the target tenant before it will authenticate.

Move to Provision a service principal for the app in each target tenant (admin consent, or explicit service principal creation) before issuing app-only tokens.

Delta Lake (Parquet) export in Azure Synapse Link

Effective 1 Dec 2027 · in 15 monthsAnnounced 7 Sept 2026

The Delta Lake / Parquet output option in Azure Synapse Link for Dataverse is being withdrawn. It closes to new customers on 15 October 2026 and disappears entirely in December 2027, so anyone relying on delta parquet from Synapse Link has to move to CSV output or to Link to Microsoft Fabric before then.

Move to Link to Microsoft Fabric for delta parquet output with lower sync latency, or CSV output in Azure Synapse Link

Field-level before/after values in Purview audit events

Support ended 1 May 2026 · 5 months ago

Dataverse audit events keep flowing to Purview, but from May 2026 they stop carrying the old and new field values. If a compliance process depends on seeing what actually changed, that evidence goes away.

Move to Use Dataverse's own auditing for field-level change detail.

Bring-your-own-key (BYOK) encryption

Support ended 6 Jan 2026 · 8 months ago

BYOK support for Dataverse ended on 6 January 2026. Environments still on it have to move to customer-managed keys, which cover more data stores — plan the key-vault permissions before you start, that is where these migrations stall.
