Technical notes & sources
Microsoft 365 Copilot is an ADD-ON: it needs a qualifying Microsoft 365 base licence, which is not priced here. Budget the base plan separately or the number will be badly short.
Microsoft 365 Copilot Business is a different SKU from the enterprise add-on and is restricted to eligible M365 Business plans. It is on promotional pricing until 30 September 2026, first year only — the list price is what renews.
The Business Premium/Standard 'with Copilot' SKUs bundle Copilot instead of adding it; compare bundle vs base+add-on before assuming the add-on is cheaper.
GitHub Copilot is billed per granted seat and published in USD only — no GBP list price exists, so no GBP figure is shown rather than inventing one.
Copilot Pro is retired: closed to new purchase, with support ended 1 August 2026. The consumer successor is Microsoft 365 Premium.
GBP is FX-converted (0.74162 as of 2026-09-03), not a Microsoft list price.
Technical notes & sources
Credits are consumed by AI actions and the real cost is driven by agent architecture: a classic answer ~1 credit, a generative answer ~2, tenant-graph grounding ~10, an autonomous action 25+. A single blended 'credits per session' is a planning figure only.
Prepaid packs work out at $0.008/credit versus $0.01 pay-as-you-go — roughly a 25% premium for flexibility. Pre-purchase Commit Units save up to a further 20%.
For anything you intend to quote, use Microsoft's own estimator: it models per-tool and per-flow credit burn and exports a PDF.
Microsoft's guidance is to add a 10–20% buffer to any credit estimate.
Security Copilot bills by Security Compute Unit, provisioned by the HOUR — not per user. A minimum of 1 provisioned SCU applies.
Provisioned capacity refreshes each clock hour and unused SCUs do not roll over, so over-provisioning is pure waste; you can scale up or down at any time (takes effect within ~30 minutes).
Work beyond provisioned capacity bills as overage at 1.5× the provisioned rate ($6 vs $4), charged on actual use. Overage can be capped per hour or left unlimited.
Microsoft 365 E5/E7 include 400 SCUs per month for every 1,000 user licences, up to 10,000 SCUs — check entitlement before pricing net-new capacity.
GBP rates come from the Azure Retail Prices API (uksouth); the rendered pricing page quotes USD only.

Sources & method
Microsoft/GitHub list price. USD excludes tax; GBP excludes VAT. Excludes EA/CSP-negotiated discounts. Microsoft 365 Copilot requires a qualifying Microsoft 365 base licence, which is NOT included in these figures.
Verified 2026-08-03 against Microsoft's own pricing pages (en-us + en-gb) and the Azure Retail Prices API. M365 Copilot seats, Copilot Studio packs and Security Copilot SCUs are primary in both currencies. GitHub Copilot is published in USD only — GBP is shown as not published rather than converted. The Copilot Studio pay-as-you-go per-credit rate ($0.01) is USD-only on Microsoft Learn. M365 Copilot Business is currently on promotional pricing (1 Jul – 30 Sep 2026, first year only) — list price is stored, promo shown separately. Checked 2026-09-12 against the September 2026 Dynamics 365 Licensing Guide edition: diffed the September PDF against August line-by-line; the only differences in the Contact Center and Customer Service sections are text-wrapping, and the substantive changes in that edition are Finance, Commerce and Project Operations. No entitlement or price movement for this product.
